Pigeons

strolling across
the baseball diamond–
no noise this morning

no pigeons on the roof
***
pigeon eating
what looks like a stone–
drops it
***
the hill goes up
around the next corner
and down again

Listening

listening to
the CBC Food Bank Day

***
the bug moves
across the steps

***
a few scraps of wood
in his front yard –
day of the funeral

from Around Town

crow
on a black metal table
outside the cafe
she stumbles
catches herself looks around
and spits on her shoe
freshly cut grass –
but the edges are the same
a piece of paper
at the edge of the old pond
my boots leaning
against each other–
still dusty

Four Haiku

*
lots of flowers
in the garden
butterfly–

*
patches of blue sky
between the clouds–
some spaces left
*
sunset or
the ghost of wild cherry
through my window
*
that dead hawk
under the old stone bridge–
still there
