A flash, frog-belly white - devoured.

we feed each other and delight
in the wet machine that makes us kin,
builds molecules as a child makes
a flower of wooden […]

Brown sugar speech acts
Are the enchantress’ weapon
Enabled by soup can waves
And hot sauce history
Her apparent preference
For sheet metal thin
Boy band references
Is but a sly homage
To an echoing rose
In the name of the hungry
Which proves that
Despite indulging in superficiality
She cannot avoid being literary
Through deliberate action
Or chance

Weedwhacker and Finch –
could be a legal firm,
but, no, it’s my
retired neighbour
storming the gates again.
As barbarians go,
he’s o.k., doesn’t grumble
or pay too much
attention to the news,
but still plays with a full deck.
He pays his taxes
or has done long enough
to not want the place
to get scruffy. It’s his
rectangle, his bit of turf:
